4-star prospect Izayia Williams verbally commits to Florida State football in 2026 class

Florida State football is on a 0-2 start but scored one in recruiting.

On Wednesday night, Izayia Williams, a four-star prospect from Tavares High School in Leesburg, Florida, announced that he had verbally committed to the Seminoles in the class of 2026.

Williams is a 6-foor-1, 210-pound hybrid player viewed as either linebacker or safety. ESPN has Williams ranked as the No. 5 safety in the junior class. As a linebacker, he is ranked No. 9 on 247 Sports and No. 3 on On3 Sports.

"Every program has had a bad game — that doesn't determine what a program is really," Williams told ESPN.

"When I talked to Coach (Mike) Norvell, it was different than talking to other coaches. I could feel that difference. He wants me to be something great there some day. "

Williams had a total 12 FBS offers, including Miami, Michigan and Florida.

He originally committed to Syracuse until Aug. 4 . Williams was spotted on FSU campus on Sept. 2, during the Seminoles' Labor Day game against Boston College, which also offered him.

Williams will be the sixth player to pledge to FSU in the 2026 class. He joins quarterback Brady Smigiel from California along with other four-star athletes like Efrem White and Darryton Williams.

FSU enters Week 2 unranked in the Top 25 AP poll after two ACC losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College. The Seminoles are on a bye week and will return to Doak Campbell Stadium to face Memphis next Saturday at noon.
