Florida State gets first look at progress of Doak Campbell Stadium with kickoff vs BC

Florida State fans are getting their first look at Doak Campbell Stadium for Monday's home opener against Boston College amid ongoing construction.

“I think there will be a fair amount of curiosity to see what it looks like inside," Jack Chatham, director of ticket operations, told the Tallahassee Democrat.

The ACC matchup will kick off at 7:30 p.m., and gates will open at 5:15 p.m.

FSU has installed temporary bleachers while the west side of the stadium is under construction.

The bleachers will consist of 7,400 chair-back seats, portable bathrooms, and concessions.

The restroom trailers will be on the corner of the temporary seating sections near Gates A, B, and E. One will also be under the precast concrete seating deck inside Gate C.

There will be stairwells where ticket holders on the west side can access their seats based on their assigned section. If unable to climb the stairwells, there will be lifts and ramps to the ADA seating sections.

The east side of the stadium is complete, and ticket holders will have wide comfort when they enter, including seats with cushioned bottoms, aisles, and handrails. The seating will also be ADA-friendly.

The west side of Gate D on the southwest corner will be closed and will remain closed throughout the year. The rest of the gates on the East side and for the Dunlap Champions Club will be open as scheduled.

Parking navigation will also be adjusted, especially for long-time ticket holders who are used to their routine. Chatham wants to remind people to check their parking passes because the path to the parking lot will be different.

“Some fans have been parking in the same space for 35 years, and the car will automatically drive itself to the old spot," Chatham said.

The renovation of Doak Campbell Stadium is expected to be completed in the summer of 2025 before its season opener against Alabama. Chatham likes the progress that has been made on the west stands of the stadium.

"It’s coming along; it looks good," Chatham said. "It’s amazing how open it is underneath (the west stands) how much cleaner it is. You won’t see the latus work of steel beams. It’s a wide-open concourse.”

FSU is looking for its first win of the year after losing to Georgia Tech in Week 0 in Dublin, Ireland.

The Labor Day game against BC sold out earlier this week. It will be televised on ESPN.
