Bride’s horror at completely sheer dress: 'Oh my god, is this see-through?'
A worrying trend has been making its way from awards night red carpets to bridal boutiques, and it’s not one many brides feel comfortable embracing.
Nude or completely sheer wedding dresses are hitting catwalks in their thousands, and as one Australian bride just found out, they leave almost nothing to the imagination.
Newly engaged YouTuber Tina Yong decided to try on some cheap wedding dresses for her two million subscribers and was horrified with the lack of modesty offered by one design.
“Oh my god is this see-through?” she exclaimed as she unwrapped the gown, “Is there another layer? This one is so sheer!”
Tina then clarified that the model on the website was wearing a sheer dress but that “I assumed there’d be like a nude layer underneath.”
“If my mum saw me wearing this down the aisle, she would be mortified! This is very x-rated,” she said.
“I just can’t get over the fact that you can see my bra, my undies, just everything underneath, like, I might as well be naked!”
While the dress in question only cost $11 (£6) online - and it’s clear she got what she paid for - what’s more concerning still is the fact that more and more wedding dresses priced in their thousands and stocked in boutiques around Australia are also featuring this completely sheer trend.
The below dresses are of much higher quality than the one Tina tried on, but also come with an exponentially higher price tag and barley any more coverage.
The first is by luxury brand Zuhair Murad and retails for $10,600 (£5,854), while the second is a Muse by Berta design that sells for $8,500 (£4,694).
