This is why you'll never see the Duchess of Cambridge on a horse
The royal family are known for being horse riding fanatics.
The Queen has been riding since she was a child (and still does occasionally) while Princess Anne and Zara Phillips have embarked on award-winning equestrian careers. Even Princes William and Harry are renowned for their polo skills.
But one prominent member of the family has never been seen on a horse.
The Duchess of Cambridge has never been pictured riding in public. Kate is allegedly allergic to horses, making her aversion to the sport pretty obvious.
However, one royal biographer has noted that there’s another reason for the Duchesses reluctance. “Kate doesn’t ride purely because she didn’t do it growing up. William and Harry were taught from an early age,” Marcia Moody, author of Kate: A Biography, said.
Kate is supposedly fighting her allergies to learn in private. In 2012, she told a Paralympic medallist that she had taken up lessons.
It seems the Duchess didn’t take to horseriding like the other royals. Last year, she told Team GB that she doesn’t share a passion for horses but revealed that yet another member of her family is showing an interest.
“She said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding, which is great to hear,” Paralympic rider Natasha Baker told Horse & Hound. “She emphasised that Charlotte has this passion about horses and although she doesn’t echo it, she’ll do her best to champion and encourage it.”
Apparently, Prince George has also embarked on riding lessons. Seems like the royals’ favourite pastime won’t be dying out just yet.
