Woman says she's been fired after body positive photoshoot went viral

A plus-size woman whose stunning boudoir shoot with her fiancé took the Internet by storm has reportedly been sacked from her job because of it.

Last month we shared the story of the couple whose empowering body positive photoshoot had gone viral, thanks to the couple’s obvious body confidence and touching chemistry.

Stephanie and Arryn (who prefer for their surnames not to be revealed) wanted to take part in a loved-up boudoir photoshoot as a special way of marking their recent engagement.

But after the images were posted to the Wolf & Rose Facebook page, the duo found themselves becoming Internet sensations thanks to the shoot’s palpable celebration of body love.

Sadly though, as well as receiving hundreds of lovely comments from fans thanking the couple for their inspiring message about body positivity, the shoot has had another, less favourable, outcome.

Stephanie, who is also reportedly pregnant, has revealed that her employer, Austin Bank Texas N.A., told her they were “concerned” about how many people would see her photos and how it would reflect on the company, and as a result she has allegedly lost her job.

“They said I was topless, and it was inappropriate and we’re a family-oriented company,” Stephanie told BuzzFeed.

“There was no defending myself, they had made their decision,” Stephanie continued. “I gave over a year to a company that I worked really hard for and then to have them turn on me for doing something so positive, something that I was so proud of — to help myself as a woman — it was hurtful. People were pulling out their phones at work and showing the pictures and that was blamed on me.”

A bank representative told Yahoo Lifestyle that the company’s HR policy doesn’t allow them to comment on personnel matters. However, the story has been garnering attention on social media with some fans unhappy that such a positive story has ended on a sour note.

The photographer who took the stunning images, Bria Terry of Wolf & Rose, has also taken to social media to offer her support to the couple.

“I completely understand that it is perfectly within the company’s rights to terminate someone,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “Texas is an at will state, and legally her employer did nothing wrong, but I cannot help but wonder how a company who claims to uphold family values can morally terminate an otherwise model employee who is 20+ weeks pregnant with her first child. Their decision not only stripped her of her insurance which is without a doubt a major necessity while pregnant, but also her paid maternity leave.”

On the upside Bria Terry has also revealed that Stephanie has already landed a new job. “It’s hard because Stephanie is 20 weeks pregnant and she isn’t yet eligible for paid maternity leave or health insurance,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

And despite everything, the mum-to-be has no regrets about taking part in the stunning shoot.

“Stephanie doesn’t regret doing the shoot,” Terry continues. “She said if it helped even one person feel more confident, it was worth it.”
