Woman who kicked her McDonald's habit during lockdown loses 5.5 stone
A woman has lost an impressive 5.5 stone during lockdown by ditching her junk food habit and taking up a new exercise plan.
Poppy Stainsby, 24, from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, says her diet used to consist of daily takeaways, which caused her weight to creep up to 18 stone and left her struggling to squeeze into size 20 clothes.
But having overhauled her eating habits and taken up an exercise regime, the mum has slimmed to a size 10 and now weighs 12st 4lbs.
Stainsby says working from home during lockdown meant she was able to exercise more, spending the time she’d previously spent commuting on high-intensity Instagram workouts and evening walks.

“I am amazed at how quickly the weight came off me,” the office clerk explains.
“I actually feel confident in myself and I can go for walks without getting out of breath.
“I’ve completely transformed my lifestyle - I now cook myself nice meals like salmon and rice and actually exercise.
“I used to get sore feet and get out of breath from just going shopping.
“Now I go on long walks and bike rides all the time.”

Stainsby originally made the decision to start losing weight in January, vowing to get in shape for her wedding in September 2021.
In the first three months she struggled to shift the pounds, losing around a stone, but after joining Slimming World and sticking to a strict diet and exercise regime during lockdown Stainsby is now close to her 12 stone target.

Stainsby’s daily diet could sometimes consist of a McDonald’s breakfast, KFC lunch, followed by Dominoes dinner, but she has now completely scrapped the greasy food.
But having made the decision to ditch the daily takeaways, the mum now cooks healthy homemade meals with fresh ingredients, such as chicken and green beans.
“I actually cook now,” she reveals.
“I would have a takeaway every day and food was my comfort but now I’m eating the good stuff - like loads of fruit and veg.”

She has also completely transformed her exercise regime, regularly waking up early over lockdown to squeeze in exercise before work, then doing more after she’d finished work.
She would also regularly go for a five mile walk around her local area.
“I’ve been loving doing home workouts all the time,” she continues.

The results have meant Stainsby now feels confident to wear crop tops and bikinis without worrying about her body.
“I’m so much more body confident and I’m so glad I finally got myself into shape,” she says.
And it isn’t just her weight that has reaped the benefits of her lifestyle overhaul.
“I can actually walk to the shops or a hill without getting out of breath and hurting my feet,” she explains.
“I also just went wedding shopping and can get into a size 10 dress.
“I feel amazing and I am so proud of myself to have achieved this.
“I feel like the best version of myself.”
