From flowers to coffee subscriptions, British people love flattening things so they fit through the letterbox.
Our latest obsession is perhaps the most exciting one yet. Eco-friendly wine company, Garçon Wines, has launched a “flat” bottle of wine that’ll fit through your letterbox for £13.99.
The London-based company makes the bottles out of recycled, pre-existing plastic.
The flatness doesn’t compromise the size, either. Each bottle has the same 75cl volume as a normal glass bottle of wine, it just also fits through your letterbox.

There are a number of benefits to flat-packed wine. For one, it cuts down on failed deliveries, which cost retailers (on average) £13.14 per unsuccessful delivery. That’s not to mention the environmental impact all of the delivery van trips has.
It also stops delivery drivers from launching our parcels over the fence like frisbees. No wonder us Brits are so fond of it.

The bottles are available from the likes of Moonpig, Next and Funky Pigeon just in time for the festive season.
Each bottle also saves more than 500g of C02 compared to a standard glass bottle. With much of the UK trying to make eco-friendly swaps, the flat bottle has launched at an opportune time.
Aesthetically, they’re really quite pleasing on the eye; they stack like books because of their flatness.
We’d really like to hope that one day in the future winecases will be a thing much like bookcases. You heard it here first.
