There were few things harder than trying to get an Ocado delivery slot during those early weeks of UK lockdown.
If a slot was secured, it was likely that many of normal essentials weren’t in stock or were (fairly poorly) substituted.
However, it didn’t dampen our collective love of Waitrose, with its smiling staff, indulgent upmarket ranges and impressive selection of fresh and tinned fruit and veg. Hence why we’re excited about their latest launch.
The Waitrose & Partners Food Box costs £25 and is designed to feed an adult for an entire week.
That means no midweek dash to restock and no last-minute stress about what to make for lunch when you only have 20 minutes between Zoom calls.
The box features a selection of 24 staple kitchen cupboard items, including pasta, beans, tinned fish, and vegetables, as well as some treats.
Rice, oatcakes and biscuits (thankfully) are also included.
The contents have been carefully selected by Waitrose & Partners nutritionists to ensure you have staples to support a balanced diet.
While we’ve only just discovered the box, the brand emailed 10,000 of its elderly and vulnerable customers with the link to the Waitrose Food Box two weeks ago to make sure they had access to the product first.

As for the boxes nutritional value?
Registered nutritionist, Rob Hobson, told Yahoo Style: “The box alone is not going to provide you with everything considered to be part of a healthy diet, so additional foods would need to be purchased. But, those included will certainly go some way to achieving this.”
“In all, I would say that this is a great value box of cupboard staples with a wide variety of foods, but maybe not enough to feed you a varied and balanced diet across the whole week.”
Hobson suggests that the additions of cheese, bread, cereal, meat and eggs would help to improve the box in order to create a varied and well-rounded weekly meal plan.
Now available to everyone, the box is unsurprisingly already a bestseller on the John Lewis website and is sure to rival other food delivery services that are now struggling to find slots and produce to accommodate the increased numbers of people ordering.
Although the box doesn’t offer a massive saving, we’ve calculated the contents being worth £25.70. The fact that you can receive all your cupboard staples delivered to your door is probably considered priceless for many right now.
To ensure the box can serve as many people as possible, purchase is limited to 2 per transaction and the brand ask for the public to be considerate in ordering only as much as you need.
You can either collect your box of goodies from your nearest Waitrose store or have the box delivered straight to your door for extra ease.
The box is available on standard delivery, which will arrive in five days. Next day delivery is also an option for £6.95.
