"Powrie Castle is a rare opportunity to own a beautifully renovated castle, with links to some of Scotland’s noted royal figures and significant historic events," says property manager David Fletcher.
Situated just a few miles from Dundee, the castle can be traced back to 1172, when King William the Lion gifted the land to Robert Ogilvie, the Earl of Angus.
It remained with that family until it was acquired by Thomas Fotheringham in 1412.
Later the castle was passed down the family and at one point, in 1547, it was used as a base for attacks during a siege before later being restored by an heir.
Letters show the family's correspondence with key royal figures including Mary Queen of Scots.
