Thomas Markle 'desperate to heal rift' now that Meghan's pregnant

Since hearing the news that his daughter is pregnant, Thomas Markle is reportedly ‘desperate’ to mend the rift that has formed between him and his daughter since she became a member of the royal family.
Despite his strained relationship with Meghan, the 74-year-old – who currently lives in Mexico – is hoping that he can still play a prominent part in his grandchild’s life.
If his attempts to reach out to Kensington Palace go astray, it is reported that he will go so far as to acquire a legal team to fight for his ‘rights’ to visit considering the baby will have “Markle blood” as well as “blue blood.”
“The palace is acutely aware of what problems could lie ahead with Thomas. He strongly believes the baby should be as much a part of his life as they will be Prince Charles’,” a palace source revealed to the Mirror UK.
“Thomas has reached out to Kensington Palace more so since news of Meghan’s pregnancy broke, hoping the baby will be what finally breaks their estrangement…He admits mistakes but with Meghan pregnant, he is desperate to heal the rift,” the source continued.
Since learning the news – which Thomas says he first heard on his car radio, rather than from Meghan herself – he has offered to fly to the UK to discuss the terms when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex return from their royal tour in Australia.
“The first thing I thought about was holding Meghan as a newborn. I thought, ‘My baby is having a baby’. A baby is a blessing and I look forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry,” he said, according to the Mirror.
However, it seems unlikely at this stage that will be the case given the Duchess reportedly felt too ‘bruised’ and ‘raw’ to personally break the news to her father after he staged paparazzi photos and spoke to the press before her wedding to Prince Harry back in May.
An insider told The Sun, the Duchess “decided not to speak to her dad and it was still too raw for her to ring him and tell him the good news.”
Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is believed to be the one that communicated with Thomas following the news.
