These are the fastest-growing destinations for post-lockdown travel
At this point, most people are ready for a holiday. With domestic travel set to be allowed from 12 April in England, our vacation dreams could be a reality soon enough.
In fact, new data from Tripadvisor has found that one in five of us is planning a trip as early as spring (between April and 31 May).

It also found that, following the government’s roadmap announcement in February, British travellers searching for holidays was up by 97% month-on-month and UK staycation searches were up by 107% month-on-month too.
Tripadvisor also found there was a divide in which locations people were searching for, with 60% of us looking for domestic holidays while 40% were looking at international destinations.
To help fuel our wanderlust, Tripadvisor has released its top 10 most searched-for destinations, which have seen the biggest year-on-year increase in interest.

The Isle of Skye’s capital of Portree nabbed the top spot in the UK, followed by Newquay in Cornwall, Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria and Torquay in Devon.

Beach destinations proved to be the most popular for travellers setting their sights abroad, with Soufriere in St. Lucia being the fastest-growing destination, followed by Tulum in Mexico, UAE’s Dubai, Cancun in Mexico and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

City break favourites Barcelona, New York, Rome, Venice and Amsterdam were the top five slowest-growing destinations, as Tripadvisor's research revealed 31% of Brits say they are “less likely” to opt for a city break post-pandemic.
