These 36 baby names could become extinct this year

These are just two of the names that are set to go extinct this year, according to BabyCentre. The site found there were 36 once-popular baby names that had yet to be registered in the UK in 2017.

Where celebrities seem to have influenced the world with their bizarre baby names, more common monikers are disappearing.

Wendy, Angela and Diane are becoming less and less popular for the girls while Wayne, Dean and Neville are almost non-existent for the boys. (Apparently, Wayne Rooney and Neville Longbottom can’t even help that.)

Last year, a British couple hit headlines after naming their son Gary to save the name from extinction. It turned out that Gary was a less popular name than Thor and Loki. Just let that sink in for a second.

According to a baby name trend expert, 2017 will see parents looking to the skies for inspiration. Pamela Redmond Satran predicted that mythological names including Pandora, Jupiter and Zeus are on the rise along with feminist heroines such as Emmeline and Zelda.
