A magical chocolate bar promises to cure period pain
Period pain? Aside from popping the painkillers, the only other thing that makes us feel remotely better is chocolate. Even science agrees chocolate can help ease women’s period pain – something to do with the release of feel good endorphins, which block the pain signals sent by our nervous system and therefore takes our minds off the cramping.
But one Swiss chocolate-making company has taken things a stage further by inventing a chocolate bar that has been specifically designed to tackle menstrual cramps.
Chocolate With Love has created ‘Frauenmond’ which rather sweetly translates as ‘women’s moon’ and contains 17 different pain-relieving herbs from the mountains in Switzerland. The effect is a chocolate bar that not only gives us that delicious chocolatey feel-good hit, but that also works to create a soothing effect on our cramping bodies.
Speaking to local paper, 20 Minuten, the brains behind the clever little bar, Marc Winder, said that the combination of ingredients combine to relieve pain and calm the body due to the presence of serotonin, a chemical that helps to balance mood. He told the publication that its special recipe is based on a Swiss herbal tea, which claims to have similar pain-busting effects.
Sadly the chocolate is only in the crowdfunding stages at the moment, so if you fancy trying out its magical period pain zapping powers for yourself you might just have to invest.
