These students made swimwear out of McDonald's packaging
Forget Moschino. Students from the Miami International University of Art and Design have taken McDonald’s fashion to the next level.
The talented class were tasked by the fast food giant to create a swimwear collection using only McDonald’s packaging.
Sounds impossible, right?
Wrong as the resulting collection showcased at Miami Swimwear Week proves.
The ‘McDCouture’ range featured 20 designs for both men and women. Bikinis and swimming trunks met summer dresses and beach bags; all made from Big Mac and Happy Meal boxes with a serving of fries on the side.
The amount of packaging the students used totals up to a pretty sum: 7,000 McDonald’s sandwich wrappers, 2,800 fry boxes, 2,800 straws, 825 soft drink cups, 225 Happy Meal boxes, 2,900 sandwich boxes, 1,000 Sriracha sauce lids, and 250 to-go bags.
The student with the best design went on to win a scholarship. The lucky guy was Pablo Machado Palomeque who took inspiration from Victoria’s Secret with his ‘McDCouture Angel’ design featuring 7000 butterflies made using over 1,000 McDonald’s wrappers.
