Strictly fans praise Tess Daly's dress – but liken it to the wrapping of a very festive sweet
Forget the dazzling moves on the dancefloor, it’s been the hosts’ outfits that have stolen the show on Strictly Come Dancing of late.
On last night’s instalment, Tess Daly’s dress was responsible for getting fans talking.
The presenter, 51, wore a gorgeous purple, sequinned one-sleeved design, featuring a stylish thigh split.
Viewers praised the eye-catching look – which the mother-of-two paired with loose blonde waves and silver strappy heels – but many couldn’t help but liken it to the wrapping of a beloved festive sweet.
On Twitter, several social media users admitted Daly’s ensemble reminded them of the Quality Street ‘Purple One’ chocolate.
Meanwhile, over on Instagram the frock was a hit with her followers, who left more than 26,000 ‘likes’.
Fellow TV star Emily Atack wrote: “OH MY WORD.”
University Challenge’s Bobby Seagull commented: “Absolutely stunning Tess.”

A third fan shared: “My favourite colour, looks lovely.”
And a fourth added: “Love this dress.”
While co-hosting yesterday evening’s show with Claudia Winkleman, Daly made a rare reference to husband Vernon Kay’s current stint on I’m A Celebrity.
Winkleman joked that the two women should go on a honeymoon to the “beautiful Scottish Highlands”.

Daly teasingly replied: “Vernon's away, I'm in!”
Earlier this month, Winkleman’s stylist revealed her go-to high street for outfits for the hit BBC programme.
Hello! reported that Sinead McKeefry had revealed on Instagram that she turned to designer fashion website Net-A-Porter to source the 48-year-old presenter’s striking ensembles – and, also, chain Zara.
The previous week, Winkleman stunned in a black sleeveless, tuxedo-inspired dress by the the fairly affordable Spanish brand.
McKeefry told the site that “Claud loves fashion so she is happy to experiment”.
As well as her recent sophisticated look, Winkleman also turned to the shop for a red sequinned suit for a Strictly appearance in 2019.
Last weekend’s ensemble – for the ‘Blackpool’ show, which marks the mid-way point of the series – was by US fashion designer Norma Kamali and cost just under £300.
However, those tuning into the show were left divided over the head-turning look – which the mother-of-three paired with matching leopard print heels.
