You can buy a copy of Meghan Markle’s wedding reception dress for £3,500

Meghan Markle’s bateau-neck Givenchy wedding dress will go down as one of the most talked-about gowns in history. But her second wedding dress will remain just as infamous.

The 36-year-old departed for her evening reception at Frogmore House in silk crepe halter-neck style white gown designed by Stella McCartney.

For some, the Duchess’s McCartney gown was the favourite of Meghan’s two looks, more suited to the former actress’ Hollywood glamour.

Brides looking to emulate Meghan Markle’s custom gown are in luck; Stella has revealed she’s decided to create a capsule collection of them. But there’s only a small number of each, so you’ll have to be quick.

Speaking to British Vogue, the designer revealed she’s created 23 lily-white and 23 onyx-black evening dresses. Each gown is identical to the Duchess’s, featuring a high-neck, low back and floor-sweeping hem.

“I knew when I was working on the dress with Meghan that it was beautiful,” McCartney told the magazine. “I knew it would be a dress that people would want, and, in that moment, you can think, ‘Nobody can have it!’, or you can share it. It’s a very ‘Stella McCartney’ dress, so it didn’t feel like I was cheating anyone, or not being us.”

The gowns, part of the ‘Made with Love’ collection, are made from sustainable viscose and cost £3,500.

But getting your hands on one of the gowns won’t be easy. They’ll be available to view by private appointment for one week from June 13, but first, clients have to email ‘madewithlove@stellamccartney.com’ and receive a personal reply from McCartney inviting them along.

“To be entrusted with something so personal, so important and so meaningful feels like a real privilege as a designer, and as a woman, I don’t care who the bride is!” McCartney said of designing Meghan’s dress.

The designer told the fashion magazine that she got goosebumps when she saw the bride depart from Windsor Castle with her husband and scoop into the silver-blue Jaguar in her dress.

“It was her second wedding dress, and it was her moment,” she says. “I felt that the dress represented her, it was a little whiff of her spirit. I love that.”
