Stacey Solomon recalls feeling 'sick' seeing her kids open presents: 'There wasn't a reaction'
The TV presenter, who is currently expecting her fifth child, explains why she asks family members not to give her children gifts
Stacey Solomon has recalled feeling "sick" watching her children open Christmas presents one year.
The TV star, 33, revealed what triggered her to ask family members not to buy her kids gifts going forward.
Speaking to HuffPost, Solomon, who is expecting her fifth child, said: "I remember one Christmas – and this was the turning point for me – my family all got the kids different Superman and Spiderman [toys].
She explained that this was in relation to her eldest two sons, Leighton, 10 and Zachery, 14, and before she started dating her now-husband Joe Swash, 40, in 2016.
Solomon continued: "The kids were opening toys and just moving that toy to the side, and then opening the next one – and there was not even a reaction to what they were seeing and getting. It made me feel sick.
“I was like, they don’t even know what they’re getting. I’ve never opened a present and not been like: ‘Oh my god, this is amazing,’ and been really excited.”

She added: “I just remember saying from then on: ‘Please I don’t want presents for them. Take them out, take them for an experience, put money in their bank accounts, whatever.’
“I don’t want crap. I don’t want it in the house. I don’t want them being bombarded by loads of stuff that doesn’t make them feel good about themselves, that they don’t appreciate it. It just made me feel awful.”
The presenter now also shares two children – son Rex, three, and 15-month-old daughter Rose – with Swash, who she married in July.
They revealed in late December that they are expecting a third child together, who is due later this month.

In an Instagram post shared at the time, Solomon revealed: "Coming soon…much sooner than we thought.
"When we found out we still wanted to have that first few months you usually would to adjust and get excited and enjoy it to ourselves, but that didn’t leave us with very long left. So this time next month we will be getting ready to say hello to a whole new pickle."
