From 'Killing Eve' to Fashion Week, why Jodie Comer is a sartorial icon worth watching
September is the most pivotal month in the sartorial calendar with designers, street style stars and A-list names jet-setting across the globe in the spirit of Fashion Week.
But it’s not necessarily the runway that you need to look to for wardrobe inspiration, as the FROW readily welcomed a new fixture to its exclusive club this season: Jodie Comer.
The breakout star of BBC3’s ‘Killing Eve’ has undoubtedly steered the nation’s conversation in recent weeks with her role as assassin Villanelle proving a hot deskside topic. The actress leads in the spy thriller alongside Sandra Oh – an ambitious MI5 agent on the hunt for Villanelle.
Though it’s not merely ‘Fleabag’ creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s script which leaves viewers glued to the small screen but Comer’s killer wardrobe.
In the second episode of the cat-and-mouse thriller, Villanelle stomps into a psychiatrist appointment decked in unmistakable Molly Goddard frills and those Balenciaga boots – a surprisingly Insta-worthy moment for the BBC.
But it doesn’t stop there. Dubbed the “most fashionable show on TV” by Vogue, the show is littered with (quite literally) to-die-for outfits.
Dreamt up by costume designer Phoebe de Gay, fashion magpie Villanelle gets away with murder in a slick Dries van Noten suit while we still can’t shake one scene-stealing Miu Miu bomber jacket from our minds.
So it was only to be expected that the industry would soon snap up the 25-year-old and make room for our new go-to muse on the FROW.
On September 15, Comer brought her onscreen character to life as she attended Molly Goddard’s SS19 show decked in bubblegum froth. Teamed with powder pink trainers and a street style-ready messy updo, the Liverpudlian proved she’s no fashion novice.

But it’s not just the capital’s big name designers who are keen to save a seat for the rising star, as the actress later headed back to Paris where the cult television show is filmed. Yet this time, it was to sit FROW at Loewe’s SS19 show.
With two runway shows under her belt and a whole list of uber-cool labels already hung up in Comer’s wardrobe, the actress is certainly making waves in the industry.
But until we can save the pennies required for her killer wardrobe, we’ll stick to watching the drama unfold on Saturday nights.
