One in three people dream about having sex with a stranger, survey finds
A third of people have had a sex dream involving a stranger, a new survey has found.
The survey of 2,000 people aged over 18 from sexual wellness brand LoveHoney found that 32% of people have dreamt about having sex with a stranger, while 34% have dreamt about sleeping with an ex-partner, and 35% have dreamt about having sex with their friend.
It also found that 18% of men have dreamt about having sex with a teacher, compared to 7% of women, and 24% of men have dreamt about sleeping with a work colleague compared to 10% of women.

Men are also more likely (14%) to dream about sleeping with a subordinate at work compared with 7% of women.
Women are more likely to dream about intense orgasms, with 43% saying they’ve had a dream like this compared to 29% of men.
Of the people surveyed, 77% said they have dreamt about sex at least once, and 12% of these people say they have sex dreams as often as two to three times per week.
In fact, 14% of 25 to 35-year-olds reported having sex dreams two to three times per week while 12% of those aged over 55 said it was more likely to be a once per month occurrence.

Astrology-wise, it found that those under the Cancer star sign are the people most likely to have sex dreams (82%), followed by Leo (80%), Scorpio (79%), Aries (79%) and Gemini (78%).
Dr Justin Lehmiller, a social psychologist and research fellow at The Kinsey Institute, said: “Normalising diversity in sexual fantasies allows us to set our minds at ease, to feel more confident exploring and communicating about our sexuality, and to experience more pleasure.”

A separate study from 2007 found that sex dreams make up 8% of all dreams, with current or past partners identified in 20% of women’s sex dreams compared to in just 14% of men’s sex dreams. Public figures were also twice as likely to be the object of a woman’s sex dream compared to a man’s.
