Selma Blair talks embracing her ‘salt and pepper hair’ following chemotherapy
Selma Blair is embracing her new salt and pepper hair as it grows back following chemotherapy.
The 47-year-old actress gave fans an update on her health journey on Instagram on Monday, including a closer look at her growing pixie cut.
For those not aware about her health battle, Blair revealed she was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis in October last year, via a candid Instagram post, after being diagnosed in August 2018.
Multiple sclerosis, often shortened to MS, is a lifelong autoimmune condition which can cause a range of debilitating symptoms including fatigue, trouble with speech and walking, blurred vision and problems with bladder control.

As part of her treatment, the ‘Cruel Intentions’ star recently underwent chemotherapy and revealed earlier in the summer she had decided to shave her head when lifting her arms to brush her hair became too much of a challenge.
And as her buzz cut has started to grow, she decided to update her followers on her new, silvery look.
“For those few interested at an in depth look at hair growth post chemotherapy for #hcst,” she wrote alongside an image of the top of her head.
“I cut my hair short to transition myself and my son for impending baldness. Easy. Baldness came. I didn’t shave head to that end. Of course it fell out. Shiny. Pale dome. Nice enough.
Since then she has been on something of a hair journey, trying a few different styles.
“It took two months to begin regrowth And it came in fine and pale and very sparse. I shaved it. It looked too sad. For me.
“I let it grow back. It was patchy in color and I felt like dying it brown. Ridiculous! I really only succeeded in dying my scalp.”
Then after a week, she says she buzzed her hair shorter with clippers and a few weeks down the line this is the result, which the star says she is learning to love.
“A thinnish, patchy charcoal head. I will see how a pixie grows in. Or I will buzz again.”
For now, it seems long hair isn’t an option.
“It seems to be too much to have long hair again. So I will leave it short and grey, something I have never before wanted to do. I equated it with giving up. And maybe giving up long, brown hair, complete with time consuming and expensive highlights and lowlights isn’t necessarily a give up. Give in. Embrace. Sure. I’ll try it,” she continued.

Though she’s opting to embrace her new do, Blair added that she hasn’t ruled out a return to having long locks again, should “some fancy pants company with a thick checkbook want to entice me out of dye retirement.
“Then I will sing about the glories of processed hair! I certainly will. So, until that wished for day, enjoy the head.”
Since her diagnosis Blair has been trying to shining a positive light on the condition by sharing her personal experiences as a sufferer and becoming an advocate for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Speaking about when she was first diagnosed after years of struggling to understand her condition, Blair said she had “tears of relief”.
“I had tears. They weren’t tears of panic, they were tears of knowing that I now had to give in to a body that had loss of control and there was some relief in that.
“Ever since my son was born, I was in an MS flare-up and didn’t know, and I was giving it everything to seem normal.
“And I was self-medicating when he wasn’t with me. I was drinking. I was in pain. I wasn’t always drinking, but there were times when I couldn’t take it.”
Earlier this year the ‘Legally Blonde’ actress was praised for rocking a red bikini while giving fans a first glimpse of her new bald style after her 8-year-old son Arthur helped her shave her hair.
