Royal baby: Who Meghan and Harry's child shares a birthday with
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child has arrived. Meghan, 37, gave birth to a baby boy, weighing 7lbs 3oz, at 05:26 on May 6, 2019.
Following the birth, Harry, 34, gave a short TV interview outside Windsor Castle, confirming that mother and son are both doing well.
While the baby has a whole host of famous family members, the newborn shares his birthday with some pretty interesting names from the worlds of showbiz, sport, politics and science.
First up is family friend George Clooney. The actor, who has previously spoken our in defence of the former ‘Suits’ actress, is close to the new parents. He turns 58 today.
George and wife Amal attended the royal wedding last May and she helped to organise Meghan’s baby shower in New York in February. They are hotly tipped to become the baby’s godparents.
Other famous faces born on May 6 include former prime minister Tony Blair, actresses Jaime Winstone and Gabourey Sidibe, singer Bob Seger and American rapper Meek Mill.
It also marks the anniversary of the birth of Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, who was born in 1856 and died in 1939.
American actor and filmmaker Orson Welles was also born on May 6 in 1915. One of his most famous films is Citizen Kane. Welles died of a heart attack on October 10, 1985.
The Queen’s grandfather George V became king on May 6, 1910 after the death of his father Edward VII.
Baby Sussex, who was a “little overdue,” missed the opportunity to share a birthday with three of his
closest relatives – the Queen who turned 93 on April 21 and cousins Prince Louis, who celebrated his first birthday on April 23 and Princess Charlotte, who turned four on May 2.
