Rihanna says motherhood empowered her to 'take on the world' ahead of Super Bowl
Rihanna has revealed how becoming a mother empowered her to feel like she could "take on the world".
The singer, 34, is set to headline the Super Bowl's Halftime Show on Sunday – around nine months after giving birth to her son.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the event at NFL finale at Arizona's State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, the star recalled the moment she was asked to perform in the coveted showbiz slot.
She said: "I was like: 'You sure? I'm three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this."
However, the singer revealed that motherhood has actually empowered her to take on the challenge.

"When you become a mom, there's something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world. You can do anything," Rihanna explained.
"And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven't been on stage in seven years, there's something exhilarating about the challenge of it all."
Rihanna noted that finding a work-life balance as a mother can sometimes feel "impossible", so she is therefore intent on only saying yes to opportunities that are very much "worth it".
She explained: "The balance is almost impossible because no matter how you look at it, work is always something that's going to rob you of time with your child.

"That's the currency now and that's where it goes. The magnitude of how much it weighs. When you make decisions on what you're going to say yes to, it has to be worth it."
The Fenty founder added that she felt it was "important" for her to perform this year so that her son could see "representation" for immigrants, Barbados and Black women.
Rihanna gave birth to her first child in May 2022, after announcing her pregnancy back in January of that year.
She shares the baby boy – whom she has not yet revealed the name of – with her partner, the rapper A$AP Rocky, whom she has dated since 2020.
