'Meghan Markle has found her calling,' says A-list friend Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra has spoken about her close friendship with the Duchess of Sussex, saying she believes Meghan Markle has found her “calling”.
Chopra, 36, first met Markle, 37 – whom she refers to as “Megs” – in January 2016, at a Women in Television dinner hosted by ELLE US.
“Megs… she was always meant for big things,” Chopra said in an interview for the August 2019 issue of ELLE UK.
“To be a change and be an important voice in doing that. It’s amazing that she found that calling and has the platform to be able to do it.’
She adds: “I'm a big believer in taking charge of your life, but there's got to be something bigger that puts us into the circumstances that we are put in.
"Destiny has a weird way of helping you to find your calling."

She also called it “amazing how lives change”, referring to the Duchess becoming a mother to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
“By the time this comes out, she will have a baby [Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on 6 May] – it’s so amazing how lives change,” said Chopra.
And while the pair’s friendship is currently long-distance – with Chopra based in the US and the Duchess living in Windsor – this may soon change.
The ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ actor – who married American singer Nick Jonas, 26, late last year – also spoke of her and her husband’s plans to purchase a home in London.
“Nick and I want to get a place in London at some point,” she said. “Whenever I go there, I feel connected to the city.”

This isn’t the first time Chopra has spoken publicly about the Duchess.
Last month, she defended her friend in an interview with The Sunday Times – saying the public scrutiny the Duchess faces stems from racism.
“f there's anyone who can handle it, it's her," she told the publication.
"Of course it has to do with racism, it's an obvious reason. But the beauty of Meg is that she's been herself through all of this."
