Priyanka Chopra reveals the UK lockdown has been a good thing for her marriage to Nick Jonas
It was suggested last year that the restrictions imposed by the pandemic have been placing unprecedented strain on marriages, with Citizens Advice reporting a rise in divorce guidance searches.
But Priyanka Chopra – who is currently experiencing lockdown in the UK with husband Nick Jonas – has insisted that being forced to stay home with her other half has actually been beneficial for their relationship.
Speaking in a new interview with The Sunday Times’ Style magazine, the actress, 38, said: “Quarantine gave us the ability to spend a lot of time together, which I’m really blessed by.
“Because with both of our careers it’s hard to find that kind of time.”
The former Bollywood star – who rose to prominence after being crowned Miss World in 2000 – also revealed that it had been an “adventure” getting to know the 28-year-old American singer, refuting that their 10-year age gap or cultural differences had been any sort of “hurdle”.
Chopra joked that she wanted a “cricket team” of babies with the Jonas Brothers star, adding: “I do want children, as many as I can have. A cricket team? I’m not so sure.”
They first started talking on Twitter in 2016, before becoming engaged in July 2018 and tying the knot in India during three days of celebrations in December of that year.
The couple are currently renting a property in Notting Hill – which formerly belonged to Robbie Williams – while she shoots upcoming romantic drama Text For You in Buckinghamshire, the filming of which wrapped this weekend.
Earlier this week, the actress was accused of breaking British coronavirus restrictions by visiting a London salon to have her hair done.
The government guidance currently states that “personal care facilities” – like hair, tanning and nail salons – must remain closed.
Police said they attended the Josh Wood Colour salon on Wednesday evening and issued the owner with a verbal warning, but not a fine.
However, Chopra’s representatives said the appointment for colour was for filming Text For You – and complied with guidance produced by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for TV and film production during the pandemic.
