Prince Harry is ‘pushing’ the public away, royal expert claims
A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry, 34, is “pushing” the public away, by restricting their access to his wife, Meghan Markle, 38, and four-month-old son Archie.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, has said everything the Duke of Sussex does is “engineered” to push away the public.
The prince is said to limit access to pictures of Archie since his first son was born last May, and is rumoured to be banning photos of him when the family arrive in South Africa later this month.
In a column published in The Sun, Seward references these examples – together with the recent row over Prince Harry’s frequent use of private jets.
She asks: “Why does he insist in throwing that love back in our faces?”
In recent years, Prince Harry has been voted among the most popular UK royals – deemed the most popular royal of all in a YouGov survey in 2018, the year coinciding with the royal wedding.
While he fell down one place this year, coming in as the second most popular royal after the Queen, he still ranked above the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in third and fourth place respectively.
Yet, Seward suggests the royal’s recent behaviour may have affected this popularity.
Later down, Seward contrasts Prince Harry with the example of his mother, the late Princess Diana, who died in a car accident at the age of 36.
She says: “Harry should follow his mother Diana’s mantra and keep your enemies close,” adding that everyone was “charmed by the late Princess of Wales.
“If Harry and Meghan slowed down and took things more gently — instead of this frantic grappling for approval and attention — they might win public support,” she adds.
Yesterday, Meghan Markle was the latest target of ‘Good Morning Britain’ host Piers Morgan’s controversial rants.
The 54 year old, called claims the Duchess of Sussex faces racist abuse and media criticism “nonsense” and suggested that he receives more online abuse than the 38-year-old royal.
