Do like the Duchess of Cambridge and wear pearls this season
Last night, the Duchess of Cambridge continued an age-old royal tradition and donned a pearl heirloom for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary celebrations.
Dressed in her favourite black lace gown by Diane Von Furstenberg (she last wore the garment to a recent Kensington Palace gala), Kate Middleton accessorised the look with a necklace borrowed from the Queen.
The four-strand pearl choker was first worn by Her Majesty before Princess Diana took the necklace on a royal tour of the Netherlands in 1982.
And the recently reignited regal aesthetic has inspired the fashion circuit, as the high street and designer labels alike have launched pearls aplenty in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations.
From the boots of the moment to ladylike handbags the Queen would approve of, these are the prettiest pearl pieces to invest in this season.
