This Playboy model is trying to normalise breastfeeding, one photo at a time
One Playboy model is fed up with mothers being shamed for breastfeeding in public.
Canadian actress and model Ildiko Ferenczi gave birth to her son Daniel sixteen months ago. Since then, she has been chastised for publicly breastfeeding her child several times.
To combat the problem, Ferenczi has begun to post a series of photos on Instagram showing her breastfeeding Daniel in a number of situations such as in the bath, wearing a glam gown and casually in bed.
“I don’t care what anyone thinks. I strongly feel that no one should be afraid to breastfeed in public,” she told SWNS. “It’s not about them, or me. The priority is to make sure my son gets the nutrition he needs.”
“A child’s body is going to signal when they need nutrition and that will happen any time or any place. It’s an incredible journey that created an irresistible bond between us.”
The model said the decision to appear on Playboy‘s August cover was “a no-brainer. I was invited to grace the cover without getting nude. What a phenomenal place to share my journey as a mother.”
She also said that she “feels sexier in every single way” since becoming a mother. “It’s something I never thought I’d feel, but I did. Women’s bodies are so beautiful in every shape and size there is something so empowering about the journey of motherhood.”
The shaming of breastfeeding mothers is nothing new. Last year, a woman in America was threatened with arrest for breastfeeding her baby in a supermarket – despite it being perfectly legal.
However, there is a silver lining. Plenty of women are opening up the breastfeeding conversation. In May, an Australian senator made political history by becoming the first woman to breastfeed in parliament.
Another mum even goes so far as to share her breastfeeding journey on camera in a series of refreshingly honest videos.
