With December in full swing we’re all on the look out for the best presents to buy family, friends, and, of course, our furry companions.

According to a Nationwide Building Society study, the British public spend an average of £363 on Christmas presents. And while we unsurprisingly spend the most on children (an average of £67 per child), we also shell out £20 on our pets.

That’s only £2 less than we budget for an aunt or uncle (£22) and £8 short of a grandparent (£28).

But, with a great range of treats, toys and accessories available this Christmas, it’s hard to resist the lure of a few stocking fillers.
