Parents need to see this parenting hack to get a crying baby to sleep in seconds

A mum’s unusual parenting hack to soothe crying babies to sleep in seconds is going viral.

Any mum or dad who has ever done the lonesome middle of the night pace trying to jiggle a howling baby to sleep needs this handy trick in their parenting arsenal.

Lauren Sessions, 31, from Michigan had been looking after her three-week-old niece A’mire while her mother recovered from the birth in hospital.

Though she’d tried everything to calm the newborn, the nurse, who is mum to four-year-old daughter Dalani, was unable to get her settled.

Until she remembered that her own daughter had seemed to calm when she heard the sound of running bath water.

And in video footage of Lauren testing her theory, the tot seems to calm the minute she hears the relaxing sound, dropping off to sleep seconds later.

Speaking about the discovery, the mum said: “I had tried numerous of things but nothing seemed to work.

“I then remembered when my daughter was a baby and had a fussy moment, I would go into the bathroom and run the bathtub water and that would soothe her.

“I went into my bathroom and turned on the sink and placed her in a football position and just rocked her and to my surprised it worked!

“I actually got some sleep that night after numerous sleepless nights – I was ecstatic.”

Since posting the video, which has been viewed more than three million times online, Lauren has received messages from grateful parents thanking her for sharing the clever tip.

“I’m grateful and I’m so happy I could share my story with people all over the world and help because that’s what I love doing,” she said.

2017 is shaping up to be the year of the parenting hack. Last month a mum’s clever hack to get poorly babies to take their medicine took the Internet by storm.

And earlier this year when five-year-old Colton Lillard’s mum Ashley posted a Facebook video of her son demo-ing a simple trick to help children tie their shoelaces, the video garnered nearly 7 million views and 155,000 shares in one week.

But not all hacks are quite so successful. Back in May a mum divided the Internet with her DIY method of rocking her baby to sleep in his bouncing chair using a KitchenAid.

In a thread on Reddit called Parenting Hack KitchenAid bouncer w/ White Noise, the anonymous mum posted a clip of a sleeping baby in a bouncer, attached to a KitchenAid by a thick rubber band.

But people couldn’t decide if it was dangerous or genius.
