The Orient Express introduces new suites inspired by the world's most romantic cities
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is, arguably, the world’s most romanticised mode of transport, featuring in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous novels.
The legendary train will be getting three new grand suites in 2020, each named after European cities featured on the train’s route.
Inspired by the “romance, adventure and style of each great European city” the train visits every year, the suites are aptly-named: ‘Vienna’, ‘Prague’ and ‘Budapest’.
Transporting travellers back to the “golden era of travel”, each grand suite embraces the train’s rich history through its luxe living areas and private en-suite bathrooms.
For instance, the ‘Prague’ suite brings the capital’s theatrical feel to life with the “balance of ancient and modern”.
Meanwhile, the ‘Vienna’ quarters reflect the city’s most famous landmarks with an “ornate and classical design” pushed with dark wood and romantic silk fabrics.

Finally, the ‘Budapest’ suite is designed to capture the essence of both sides of the famous Danube river seeking inspiration from both Gothic and Ottoman architecture.
Adding a further touch of extravagance, guests will be offered free-flowing champagne, a personal 24-hour cabin steward and private transfers to and from the train.
“Each meticulous suite will draw inspiration from the romance, adventure and style of each great European city we travel to,” said Gary Franklin, Belmond’s Trains and Cruises Vice President, in a statement.

“The suites evoke the individual city experience whether it is walking along the Charles Bridge in Prague or exploring the contrasting Gothic and Ottoman architecture of Budapest.”
The Orient Express is currently home to three suites named Paris, Venice and Istanbul - which have already scooped the AHEAD World’s Best Suite award for 2019.
The train travels through Europe from March to November and to Istanbul once a year.
Prices for a classic one-night journey in a grand suite starts at £6,200 per person while a twin cabin from Venice to Vienna will cost £2,200 per passenger.
A journey from Vienna, Prague or Budapest to Paris or London in a twin cabin kick-starts at £2,573 per person.
