Oprah Winfrey reveals the 'gifts' she gave Doria Ragland when she visited her home

Oprah Winfrey and Doria Ragland‘s friendship is one we’re all here for.

Just weeks ago, the chat show host attended the royal wedding and watched on as Doria shed a tear at the sight of her daughter, Meghan Markle, walking up the aisle to her Prince.

The host and the mother of the newly-titled Duchess of Sussex first hit it off prior to the royal wedding when Oprah invited Doria to her sprawling home in California.

At the time, papers reported the host was trying to scoop a coveted interview with Doria (and or the royal couple!) for her world-famous show.

Doria, a social worker and yoga teacher, was seen leaving the property with an arm full of gifts.

But now, Winfrey has recently revealed the true reason for her invite: to have a good old girly natter and do some yoga.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, she set the record straight, saying: “The story was that Meghan’s mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts…

“You know what the gifts were? First of all, she’s great at yoga, so I said, ‘Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.’ So one of the bags was a yoga mat.”

Oprah also explained that one of Doria’s favourite fruits is kumquats, and so she let her indulge buy picking some of the fruit from her kumquat tree in her back garden.

“She said, ‘I love kumquats,’ and I said, ‘I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?’ So it was a basket of kumquats, people,” Winfrey explained.

“For all of the people who said I am getting her gifts and I’m trying to bribe her for an interview —they were kumquats. If kumquats can get you an interview, I’m all for it!”

So there you have it: kumquats and yoga mats.

In all seriousness though, we are so here for that Doria-Oprah sofa chat.

In other Doria news, Meghan’s mother is rumoured to be moving to the UK in a bid to stay close to her daughter as she embarks upon her royal duties.

A royal insider revealed: “When she and Harry start a family it’ll be incredibly hard if her mum is 5,500 miles away.”
