Obamas celebrate 27th wedding anniversary with heartfelt posts to one another: 'Still feeling the magic'
Social media is going crazy for Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s anniversary posts to one another.
The former US President, 58, and former First Lady, 55, celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary yesterday, and marked the occasion with romantic Instagram posts directed at one another, including never-seen-before photos and cute captions.
Barack posted a sweet image of himself and Michelle watching a sunset together on his Instagram account. He captioned the post with a lyric from the Beatles song ‘Getting Better’: “It’s getting better all the time”. The post has already received over three million likes at time of writing.

Michelle, who last year became a bestselling author with her book ‘Becoming’, did not disappoint. On her Instagram account, she shared a sweet photo of the pair standing on a pier together with a heartfelt caption, in which she wrote she was “still feeling the magic that brought [her and Obama] together all those years ago”.

Her post has received even more likes than her husband’s – over three and a half million.
Comments on Michelle’s post include: “Happy Anniversary live life to the fullest. I will always love you guys excellent role models”, “Happy Anniversary! America this is what a healthy marriage looks like. These are the role models I’m proud to show my kids” and “Your bond is so beautiful. Happy Anniversary and here’s to many more”.
This isn’t the first anniversary the pair have marked on social media.
Back in 2017, Michelle called Barack her “best friend” in a tweet to mark their 25th wedding anniversary.
Their public declarations of love contrast with the current US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, who for the past two years have not acknowledged their wedding anniversary.
Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you're still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I 💕 you. pic.twitter.com/y0nevQmatB

The Obamas’ relationship history
The pair celebrated having been married for 27 years yesterday: their wedding was on 3 October 1992 in Chicago.
They first met in 1989 while working at law firm Sidney Austin LLP, when Michelle was assigned as Barack’s mentor.
The pair then got engaged in 1991, at a dinner which was intended to celebrate Barack’s passing the bar exam, according to an interview they did with ABC News.

Following their 1992 wedding, they welcomed their first daughter Malia Ann Obama in 1998, and second daughter Natasha Obama (known as Sasha) in 2001.
Michelle supported Barack through his election campaign which saw him become the 44th President of the United States of America.
"If you were going to list the 100 most popular things that I have done as president, being married to Michelle Obama is number one," Barack said during his State of the Union address in 2010.
