The recent sunny weather has been a sure reminder that while PJs, loungewear and athleisure are wonderful lockdown garb, nothing quite brightens your day like a summer dress.
Last year - a world ago - a certain Zara monochrome polka dot frock dominated street style.
This year, New Look appears to have produced 2020’s ‘that dress’ - and at £23.99 it’s almost half the price of its 2019 counterpart.
The new coveted number comes in an easy-going smocked design, and features on-trend puff sleeves and a check print.

A-line, tiered skirting from the waist makes it ideal for hot days, while the knee-length hem is perfect for that future holiday you’re planning.
The dress - which can be ordered online here - has already been spotted being modelled across social media.
Fans include journalist Lucy Kummer, who styled her’s with a pair of ‘dad’ trainers, black sunglasses and gold hoop earrings for a snap shared on Instagram.
Her post received more than 500 ‘likes’, with many people commenting that they had already it on order too.

Similarly, fashion stylist Billie Cronin paired the dress with a wide-brimmed black fedora hat and cow print western boots in an Instagram post which has received more than 600 ‘likes’.
Fashion blogger Nikki Nicola slipped also on the dress with a pair of chunky black sandals on her @40notfrumpy account - garnering over 500 ‘likes’.
It comes as Holly Willoughby made an ice-cream cake with her middle child Belle in lockdown in a gorgeous pink floral dress.
For the mother-daughter bonding session, the star, 36, revealed on Instagram that she was wearing a midi-dress from LoveShackFancy via Beach Flamingo.

The summery smocked frock costs £450, and features an elasticated shirred mid-section meaning it can be easily slipped on and off, as well as voluminous sleeves which can be worn on or off-the-shoulder.
According to the website, it is “the perfect wear-any-time-any-place dress”.
Meanwhile, Rochelle Humes has been cosying up at home in a pair of tracksuit bottoms from Bershka
The 30-year-old singer and presenter shared a photo of her relaxed outfit on Instagram, as she joked casual clothes would be her uniform for the “foreseeable” future.
