Morrisons takes on M&S 'love sausage' with heart-shaped steak
Morrisons has released the perfect Valentine’s Day treat for carnivore couples: the ‘Sweetheart steak’.
Perfect for loved-up pairs who share a passion for meat, the rib-eye steak comes in a heart shape (what else?) and serves two.
It is available from Morrisons Market Street butchers from today, Tuesday 11 February, until Saturday 18 February, ideal for those delaying their celebrations until the weekend. The steak is priced at £20 per kilogram.
Paul Robinson, butchery specialist at Morrisons, says: “This is the perfect Valentine’s Day food for customers that are looking to impress.
“Before you even cut into it, this steak sends a romantic message and it tastes great too.”
For those scratching their heads for Valentine’s Day ideas, the steak could prove a lifesaver.
However, some social media users were less than impressed, with one person calling it “creepy”, and another declaring their apathy towards Valentine’s Day “commercialism”.
Something quite creepy about moulding dead animal parts into shapes for the purpose of love https://t.co/Q6RUMAxC8h

Morrison’s selling sweetheart steak 🥩. Seriously? I hate this Valentines commercialism with all the stores creating cheesy crap that will go on sale the following day at less than half price pic.twitter.com/IszlUperKF

This isn’t the only novelty meat product available for Valentine’s Day.
Marks & Spencer have also jumped on the romantic meat bandwagon ahead of 14 February.
Its bacon-wrapped ‘Love Sausage’ caused a storm on social media, with many enjoying the brand’s saucy post about the product.
