An Australian social media influencer is making headlines after she was reportedly turned away from the Louvre because of her outfit.
Newsha Syeh, a 25-year-old model, is known to her more than 231,000 Instagram followers for sultry photos and edgy sense of style. However, during a recent trip to Paris, the model says was “heartbroken” when she was denied entry to the world famous museum.
Syeh shared a photo of the low-cut dress she was wearing to Instagram with the caption, “Yesterday at the Louvre, I was stopped at the entrance by a guard for my outfit.”
She continued in a separate Instagram story, “He made the most disgusted and horrible gestures and facial expressions, swore at me to cover up, with hate filled eyes stopped me entering. I was heartbroken, because I thought the Louvre enforced this archaic rule. Turns out…it does not.”
Syeh shared a screen grap from her Google search of the museum’s dress code which yielded results from a travel blog that stated there was no formal dress code in place.

However, there does seem to be a dress code stipulation on the Louvre’s official website that prohibits guests from wearing swimsuits, entering bare-chested, naked or barefoot.
Since sharing her story, Syeh has received comments from followers sharing their experiences being turned away from the Louvre.
“When I visited The Louvre with my sister a few years ago. We wore winter clothes with boots and we got denied entry by security for being ‘Under dressed.’ [sic] They were so rude about it too and cussed us out until we had no choice but to walk away feeling embarrassed,” one follower wrote. “Your outfit is beautiful.”
Despite the mishap, Syeh and her wife, Sabrina Haley, have been visiting other local museums in the City of Love, including the Musée d’Orsay and Musée Picasso, without a wardrobe restriction.
