Melania Trump wears over £10,000 worth of clothing in 48 hours during Japan state visit
US presidential couple, Donald and Melania Trump, undertook a four-day state visit to Tokyo, Japan on Friday and the trip proved the perfect opportunity for the First Lady to really flex her sartorial muscles.
The 49-year-old made sure to pack a number of high fashion outfits and delivered an estimated £10,000 worth of headline-worthy dresses in the past 48 hours alone.
To kick-start the fashionable proceedings, Trump wore a Calvin Klein shirt dress emblazoned with old postcards of the American West on the flight out - a not-so-subtle tribute to US culture - which retails at $3,900 (approximately £3,079).
To finish the breezy ensemble, she wore a pair of navy Christian Louboutin pumps.
Further cementing her status as a global fashion muse, Trump chose a £5,847 Carolina Herrera midi dress for an outing with the prime minister’s wife Akie Abe on Sunday.
A pair of heels in Japan’s national colour, red.
But it was Trump’s evening look that sparked a debate online.

For a lavish banquet at the Imperial Palace come evening, Trump decided to fly the US flag in a £3,500 feather-emblazoned dress by American designer J. Mendel.
Further proving the ‘Melania Effect’ is very real, the ensemble soon garnered sell-out status with a number of social media users praising the look.
Did you see her dresses in Japan?! Stunning! The feather dress?! So beautiful

It looks like Melania’s dress and shoes colour are Japanese flag 🇯🇵 colour. Very elegant. Trump becomes the first world leader to meet Japan’s new emperor Naruhito https://t.co/JoFuP4EOvN

I do love this dress by Carolina Herrera worn by first lady Melania Trump in Japan. Plus I think this postcard dress by Calvin Klein is so cute, crisp and summery looking. Perfect dress to wear leaving on the trip to Japan. #MelaniaTrump #firstlady pic.twitter.com/0HiT8QOz16

She sure knows how to dress with elegance and respect for the occasion. Hollywood should watch and learn.

While others were less than impressed with the amount of money forked out for the dress.
That dress alone could probably house some homeless vets.

But the fashion doesn’t stop there, as Trump also made sure to pack a punchy Dries Van Noten coat for the flight home.
In case you needed further evidence on her fashion know-how, it was plucked from the SS19 collection and is currently priced at £1,000.
A pair of neon heels finished the ensemble and subsequently ticked yet another trend from the SS19 list.
