Did Meghan Markle just hint at her wedding dress designer at the Anzac Day service?
It was an early start today for Meghan Markle, who joined her fiancé to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service.
The bride-to-be joined Prince Harry at the Wellington Arch in central London for the her first service of this kind, marking the lives of the fallen soldiers in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps during World War One.
During the poignant service, both Meghan and Harry sang hymns, before Harry – a former army officer – laid a floral wreath at one of a group of metal crosses.
The wreath was accompanied by a handwritten message which read: “For all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of our freedom. Thank you, Harry.”
Both Harry and Meghan – who wore poppies – appeared to be moved by the service, with Harry shedding a tear.
For her debut appearance at the event, the former actress made sure she was dressed appropriately for such an occasion.
Markle wrapped up against the 5am chill in a grey, fitted double-breasted coat by Canadian brand Smythe from the Fall 2018 collection, which she wore over a black dress.
She teamed her look with a wide-brimmed black hat – the first time we’ve seen her wear in this style – with Sarah Flint black Jay Pumps costing £283.
In terms of accessories, Meghan returned to her Gucci Dionysus Velvet Mini Bag once again, which she wore once before at the Women’s Empowerment reception.
Later in the day, the soon-to-be royal changed into an all-black look by Emilia Wickstead. She teamed the duchess-worthy get-up with a co-ordinating Philip Treacy hat.
It’s interesting to note, that Wickstead is one of the names tipped to design Meghan’s wedding dress and her latest look could help further confirm the possibility.
Today’s events accompany an ongoing line of official royal engagements that Meghan has attended as a non-royal.
But not for long: Meghan and Harry are due to marry in under a month in what will be the wedding of the year.
