Meghan Markle has been baptised in a secret ceremony ahead of the royal wedding
Meghan Markle has reportedly been baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a secret ceremony with her fiancé Prince Harry at her side.
With just over two months to go until the royal wedding, bride-to-be Meghan has attended an intimate 45-minute service at the Chapel Royal on Tuesday evening.
According to the Daily Mail only 18 guests were present at the ceremony including Harry’s father, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall.
It is believed that Harry’s brother Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge were not in attendance, and the Queen also did not come to the ceremony.
The water that was used for the baptism was said to have come from the Royal Family font.
The baptism, which formally introduces Meghan into the Anglican faith, was not required in order for the soon-to-be royal to marry in church, but it is understood it was something she was keen to do.
Though Meghan attended a Catholic school, she is actually a Protestant.
Following her engagement, the Duchess of Cambridge was also baptised before having a private confirmation.
The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace was the setting for Prince George’s christening, and was the location of where Princess Diana’s body lay before her funeral.
News of the secret baptism follows reports that Meghan also celebrated her hen do over the weekend.
It is thought the 36-year-old former Suits star spent the day getting pampered with her closest friends at a secret spa location.
But apparently two major guests were absent from the celebrations – Meghan’s mum Doria Radlan, and her future sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge.
