Meghan and Kate join the Queen for emotional Armistice 100 service
The younger royals accompanied the Queen at the Armistice Service at Westminster Abbey in London on Sunday evening.
William, Kate, Harry and Meghan joined Her Majesty, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to mark 100 years since the First World War ended.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a dark green Catherine Walker coat and a Jane Taylor hat band, while the Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child next year, sported a navy peplum ensemble for the sombre occasion.
This is the first year Meghan has joined the Royal Family for the Remembrance Day services, since marrying Prince Harry in May.
The Queen, dressed in purple, laid flowers on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, while Charles read from the Bible during the poignant service, led by The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster.
The service at Westminster Abbey is the finale of a day of national events to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Earlier today, the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family attended the Remembrance Sunday service in Whitehall. Her Majesty watched from the balcony of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office building, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge.
For the second year in a row, the Prince of Wales laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on the Queen’s behalf, while an Equerry placed one for the absent Duke of Edinburgh. It was the first time Prince Philip has missed the annual service, after retiring from public duties aged 96 last year.
On Saturday night, the royals watched performances from the likes of Sir Tom Jones and Harry and Meghan’s wedding band Kingdom Choir at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Westminster Abbey has also played host to many royal weddings over the years, including the Queen and Prince Philip’s and most recently, Prince William and Kate’s nuptials.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit South Yorkshire on Wednesday for a day of engagements.
