M&S launches Percy Pig ice cream
We’ve welcomed the warmer weather recently, and with the warmer climate comes a pretty insatiable hankering for ice cream.
During the coronavirus lockdown it’s not easy to just grab a tub of ice-cream on a hot day or run outside when the ice cream van comes rolling by.
Lucky for us, Marks & Spencer has devised the perfect plan and it involves ice cream and Percy Pigs.
M&S has blended that unique Percy Pig taste into a raspberry and grape flavour, rippled with fruity sauce, and the soft chewy texture of strawberry marshmallow.
Yes please.

Unfortunately, there’s no actual Percy Pig sweets blended throughout the ice cream, but there’s no reason hardcore Percy fans couldn’t buy a bag and create their very own sundae at home.
A 453g tub will set you back £3 and you can get it from the freezer section at any M&S store.
It’s also worth noting that the new recipe is vegetarian, but not vegan.

Percy Pig has become an institution of the Marks & Spencer brand. The original sweets came out in 1992 but a whole plethora of Percy-branded products have followed.
The latest product in the range was the Percy Pig dessert sauce which could be squeezed all over pancakes - or ice cream. In fact, the dessert sauce taste has been likened to the ice cream.
Since 1992 we’ve seen everything from from Percy’s piglets to his parents, all with slightly differing flavours to the original.
The range now has ten different types of sweet packets on rotation and that’s without the likes of the Percy Pig birthday cake and now the ice cream.

M&S has come full of ideas on how to make this ice cream launch go down in history and one of them involves creating a lemonade float.
We’re listening.
A lemonade float does pretty much what it says on the tin. It’s a glass of lemonade with a big dollop of ice cream floating on the top.
If you’ve never experienced one of these before, then you’re in for a real treat.
If floating ice cream isn’t your thing, M&S also recommend loading the ice cream on a banana and dousing it in sprinkles for an alternative take on the classic banana split.

“Customers have been asking us for a Percy Pig ice-cream for a long time now, so we’re very pleased to be able introduce one at a time when we could all use a little pick me up.
“Percy Pig is loved by so many, so when we develop a new Percy product, we have to ensure every element of the flavour and texture is synonymous with what our loyal fans expect.
“This velvety smooth ice-cream gives that famous Percy Pig flavour, combined with the soft chewy texture of marshmallow. I love two scoops with an extra sprinkling of mini marshmallows on top and a good rom-com.” April Preston, Director of Product Development at M&S says.
As tempting as it might be to run out and buy a shed load, it’s not an essential purchase, so stick it on your main food shop list and enjoy the anticipation for this brand new treat.
