Former The Only Way is Essex star, Mark Wright, welled up on This Morning today after he revealed that he once attempted to save a man’s life using CPR while on holiday.
Wright, 37, told This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that the incident occurred while he was holidaying with his wife Michelle Keegan in Tenerife.
He explained that the man’s wife approached him at the hotel they were staying in, looking distraught as her husband had collapsed. Sadly, the man died from a heart attack.

“I did what I could – he was there for a while before I got there,” Wright, who was visibly emotional, said.
“He wasn't necessarily alive when I gave him CPR but it allowed the ambulance to put him on a life support machine.”
Coincidentally, Wright had just finished shooting a campaign to raise awareness of CPR when the incident happened.
Posting to Instagram earlier this week, he explained: “Last month, strangely enough, one week after shooting this film, I was first [to respond] to an out of hospital cardiac arrest, whilst on holiday in Tenerife.
“Because of this filming day and lesson, I could instantly recognise the difference [between] a heart attack and cardiac arrest, convincing me that CPR had to be performed immediately.

“Sadly I was either too late by the time I got to the patient or the trauma was too bad for this man’s life to be saved. Around the hotel, including staff, not enough people knew how to perform CPR and a defibrillator was not on site so we had to wait 30 minutes for the ambulance to arrive with one. Sadly it was too late.
“This was a day that will stay with me forever. I will never forget this husband and father’s life fading away under my hands.”
The man’s daughter Victoria commented on Wright’s Instagram post thanking the former reality TV star for trying to save her father’s life.
“It was my Dad who had the cardiac arrest in Tenerife,” she wrote. “I want to thank you again for your help and support, without it my mum wouldn't have had the opportunity to say her goodbyes to Dad. You are an absolute star and I'm so grateful you were there, you did your best and I'll forever be grateful to you. Sending love, Victoria.”

Wright replied to the message, writing: “There you are Vic. I’ve been trying to find you. You were incredible for your dad and did him proud. You was stronger than I can ever imagine someone would be in that situation. Send you all, all the love in the world Vic. Xx.”
The NHS says CPR that includes chest compressions and rescue breaths should only be performed if you have been trained in CPR.
Those not trained can try hands-only CPR which consists of a chest compression. If the incident happens in the UK, you should call 999 immediately.
