Man who went viral for learning to do his blind wife’s make-up launches his first tutorial
The man who stole the nation’s heart for learning how to do his wife’s make-up before she loses her sight has launched his first beauty tutorial.
Back in October, Des Monahan booked make-up lessons at his local Debenhams store after his wife Mona was beginning to struggle due to her deteriorating eyesight.
Unsurprisingly, the couple – who have been married for 57 years – soon went viral with social media users dubbing the pair ‘relationship goals’. But if you thought that was tear-jerking enough, wait until you watch Des’ debut tutorial.
In collaboration with EX1 Cosmetics, the make-up video proves serious competition for fellow YouTube vloggers as Des demonstrates how to achieve a swoon-worthy date night look.
As the 84-year-old begins to apply foundation to his wife’s skin using a beauty blender, he gives viewers the ultimate lesson in beauty: “Less is more”.
During the tutorial, he’s filmed telling Mona that she has “flawless” skin that “even Michelangelo would be jealous” of. And when it comes to concealer, he needn’t use much as Des tells his wife that she’s already “perfect”.
We’re not crying, you are.
But Mona is just as blown away by her husband’s gesture as we are, as she tells the camera: “I love the idea of getting up and getting my face done, ready to face the world. I absolutely love it. Oh, I’m in heaven.”
