Forget the traditional selection box for one moment, as we’re already drooling over news that Maltesers is set to change the festive game with white chocolate truffles.
A milk chocolate version of the delicious treat first launched last year and quickly became one of our favourite pick-me-ups so we have high hopes for the brand’s latest venture.
But you won’t have to wait until the Christmas tree is up to indulge in the moreish treat, as the white truffles will reportedly land in Tesco stores across the nation on September 9.
Though you’ll need to move fast. Priced at £4.99 per 200g box, they’re sure to fly from the shelves with fans already making a note in their diaries.
Instagram account, @newfoodsuk, was one of the first to announce the news with a sneak preview of the snowflake-emblazoned box.
Understandably, followers couldn’t contain their delight with a number of social media users flocking to the post to comment.
“Woah,” one wrote. “The comeback of the white Malteser?! Yes, please...”
Another tagged their friend and commented, “We need a Christmas night with a box of these each!!!”

“Need this now, now, now, now,” a third excitedly wrote.
Blogger Mehreen who goes by the Instagram handle, @mehshake, also received a box of the white truffles and took to the digital platform to share the news.
She captioned the post, “Tag & share with a friend who will love these. @maltesersuk sent me one of the first ever Maltesers white chocolate truffles before they have even released!”

“I didn’t realise how popular these were until so many food pages started messaging me! They’re going to be exclusive to Tesco but unsure when they’ll released (check your local Tesco to see if they’re there!). When I find out I’ll let you know!”
Upon further inspection, the box teases the white truffles as ‘creamy’, ‘crunchy’ and ‘truffly’. Erm, what more could you possibly ask for?
In the meantime, you can satisfy your cravings with a 54g box of milk chocolate Maltesers truffles for £5 from Tesco while Asda is currently flogging a larger 336g tub for £7.
