The new M&S Christmas ad is here - is it their most fun yet?
It's that time of year again! The Christmas ad season is now upon us and Marks and Spencer's is straight out of the gate with its first festive ad for M&S food.
Taking to social media on Monday (4 November), the brand shared its brand new 2024 advert starring a double helping of national treasure Dawn French, who plays both the Christmas fairy (from last year's ads) and herself.
In the ad, we see Dawn trudging home through the snow feeling overwhelmed with all the things she had to do before having guests over for Christmas. Sitting at home in her cosy checked pyjamas, she enlists the help of a fairy Christmas decoration from her box of baubles - also voiced by Dawn.
With a wave of her wand, the table is laid with a tasty selection of M&S' festive food before she is also transformed into a glam evening look. With Dawn's trademark funny facial expressions and sarcastic comments, before dancing around with her guests, the ad has a real flavour of fun. Its perhaps a welcome respite from the tearjerker ads of Christmas past, which were designed to have viewers bawling rather than laughing. Will the other brands follow suit this year?
In a second video shared by the brand, Dawn sits before a plate of mince pies and encourages viewers to go and check out the new ad, which launched a few hours earlier across the M&S social media accounts, as well as on Dawn's own.
With more Christmas ads from fellow big hitters Waitrose and John Lewis coming soon, we can't wait to see how they compare - and find out which will be judged the nation's favourite...
