So long bum bags, Gucci have created groovy new 'belt bags'

Gucci’s pre-fall campaign can’t help but catch your attention, it’s awash of colour, vibrancy and 60s disco vibes. Plus, it’s the designers most diverse campaign to date with an all-black cast.

The images also feature a few surprise eccentric twists, including the appearance of several creepy reptiles, and the debut of Gucci’s new hybrid accessory: The belt bag.

The sportswear-inspired item is made up of the very popular GG Marmont bag, which has been fastened onto a leather belt. The design is then supposed to sit high on your waist, just like a waist-belt (but with extra storage).

So, it’s basically 2017’s answer to the bum bag, and just in time for festival season. Thank you Alessandro Michele.

Gucci’s latest creation may have come as a bit of a shock, but bum bags have been sneaking back onto the scene for a few years. Chanel have showcased several designs on their catwalks, meanwhile Kendall Jenner has already been seen repping multiple vintage bum bags this year.

That being said, we all know bum bags can only be so stylish.

Gucci’s new belt bags not only come in a variety of colours, but are also a lot more flattering due to their high-waist design. Therefore, we fully welcome this new hands-free option for having finally elevated the humble bum bag to new levels.
