Kylie Jenner sparks controversy after piercing her five-month-old daughter's ears

Kylie Jenner is in hot water after revealing that her five-month-old daughter, Stormi Webster, has had her ears pierced.

The 20-year-old shared a Snapchat video on Wednesday which depicts the television star showering her daughter in kisses. But eagle-eyed followers were quick to note her baby has delicate studs in her ears.

Social media users promptly took to Twitter to call out the new mum’s decision, as one wrote: “Stormi is less than 6 months old and Kylies [sic] already got her ears pierced, shouldn’t be allowed at all.”

While another joked: “What comes next, toddler tattoos?”

Over on Twitter, a fan added, “How can she put holes in her baby! [sic] Awful I could never cause my baby unnecessary pain”.

But others disagreed and saw nothing wrong with the social media mogul’s decision to pierce her daughter’s earrings.

One follower called out the mum-shaming in a Tweet which read: “Why are ppl slating kylie jenner for having stormi’s ear pierced ??? I had my ears pierced before I turned one bc when you’re a baby it’s less painful and the child won’t remember the pain, like sis it’s not that deep [sic].”

But the backlash comes as no surprise, as the age old practice has always split opinion. Back in May, one mum sparked a fierce debate on parenting forum Mumsnet after asking if she should pierce her four-year-old daughter’s ears or not.

But with a recent Forbes cover under her belt after being named the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, we doubt Kylie Jenner even has time to read over the mum-shaming comments.
