Krispy Kreme is celebrating a cosmic event with a one-day offer.

To celebrate the Oct. 17 full moon, nicknamed the Hunter's Moon, the bakery chain is offering a Supermoon Super Doughnut. Thursday's supermoon will be the closest the moon will be to Earth this year. At its nearest point, it will be 222,055 miles from Earth and appear 7% larger than normal.

Krispy Kreme fans — and those aligned with the stars — will only be able to pick up the special doughnut at participating shops across the U.S. on Oct. 17 — but no need to wait until it gets dark out, it will be available all day.

The doughnut is unglazed and filled with cookies and Kreme filling, dipped in yellow icing and swirled with chocolate cookie pieces.

The doughnut can be purchased individually or as a Supermoon Super Doughnuts specialty dozen, featuring six Supermoon Super Doughnuts and six Original Glazed doughnuts. The treats will be available for pickup or delivery via Krispy Kreme’s app or website.

“This October’s Supermoon is the biggest all year. So, get outside Thursday night and make the view even sweeter by enjoying and sharing our Supermoon Super Doughnuts,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme global chief brand officer.

The bakery is known to celebrate outer space. Earlier this year, in April, the company released the Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut. Then, in years prior, first in 2021, Krispy Kreme released the Strawberry Supermoon and Mars doughnuts, and the following year, the Artemis Moon Doughnut.
