Kim Kardashian's clever hack for breastfeeding a baby while an older sibling is present
Last year Kim Kardashian opened up about her breastfeeding struggles, revealing that she was finding nursing her son Saint difficult because elder daughter North was getting too jealous.
In the end Kim decided to quit breastfeeding her youngest, but that wasn’t before she tried some genius tricks to cure little North’s sibling rivalry.
As any mum who’s ever tried to breastfeed a baby while an elder sibling is present will understand, the struggle with jealousy is very real. Thankfully, mum-of-two, Kim Kardashian has some hilarious hacks for other mums to try out.

While appearing on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ last week, the reality TV star and mum-of-two shared some of the tricks she tried to cope with North’s jealousy while her brother was feeding.
“When I was breastfeeding him, she was so jealous I had to get a little milk box and put it in the other bra with a straw,” she told Ellen.
“So she would drink and he would drink.”
Sounds ridiculous but when you think about it, it’s also actually pretty smart.
Turns out it isn’t just her brother having a feed that North has a problem with.
“North just beats [Saint] up all day long,” Kim explained.
“She’s just awful. She’s just so jealous, and I thought it was a phase, it’s not going away!”

The 36-year-old said her toddler daughter has compiled a list of house rules that her little bro has to stick to.
“[North] says that boys aren’t allowed in her room,” the Keeping up with the Kardashians star told Ellen.
“When she’s gone at school, I’m like, ‘It’s time! Let’s go in her room! Do whatever you want, go crazy!’ She’s just so jealous!”
If you’re currently a mum-of-two or more little ones trying to cope with breastfeeding jealousy and you don’t fancy putting a milk bottle in your other bra cup, the NHS website has some other tips for coping with jealousy of an older sibling while nursing including distracting them during feeds.
“Your toddler may feel left out and jealous when you’re feeding the baby,” the site reads. “Find something for them to do before you start feeding, or use the feed as an opportunity to tell them a story or have a chat.”
Anna Burbidge PR and Media Director of breastfeeding support site La Leche League GB says there are some advantages to breastfeeding when it comes to also offering attention to an elder sibling.
“One benefit of breastfeeding is that a mother finds it easier to have a free hand and to move around while feeding,” explains Anna. “This means she might be able to sit on the floor to play or read or even chase after her toddler while nursing the baby.”
Anna says that some mothers find it useful to have a special box of toys that only comes out when it’s time for breastfeeding so their toddler also looks forward to feeding time. “The box can sometimes include new little treats. Having some toddler snacks pre-prepared can also help. It can be a “snuggling with mummy time” too, or a time when a special book comes out. Depending on the age of the toddler, looking at pictures of the older sibling when s/he was a baby and talking about that time and how lovely it is for the baby to have a big brother or sister can also help”.
