Kim Kardashian is no stranger to turning heads on the Met Gala red carpet.
In 2019, she attended wearing a wet-look latex gown dripping in beads and the floral, form-fitting and hugely unpopular gown she wore while pregnant with oldest daughter North in 2013 will likely haunt her forever.
But the reality star's Met Gala return on Monday evening offered up arguably her most controversial look to date.
Kardashian, 40, was covered head-to-toe in a black ensemble by French fashion house Balenciaga, complete with matching mask and train.
While you couldn't see her face, only a sleek ponytail, Kardashian still had her glam squad on hand to prepare her for the occasion, with her make-up artist, Mario Dedivanovic, revealing what was used underneath the mask.
Mario used celebrity-favourite moisturiser Crème de la Mer by luxury skincare brand, La Mer.
The moisturiser has remained a go-to of Kim's for years. Back in 2018, Kardashian posted her skincare routine on her KKW Beauty website, listing La Mer as one of her skin care secrets.
"I've gotten into such a good routine because I use products that work together and really see results!" she wrote, continuing “there are some that I'll just never give up”.
Crème de la Mer has been a Hollywood skin care staple for decades, A-list fans including Beyonce, Blake Lively, Kade Hudson and Chrissy Teigen, to name a few.
In fact, Kardashian wasn’t the only celeb to use the La Mer cream at the Met Gala, Schitts Creek actor, Dan Levy, Grammy award-winner Mary J Blige and Rita Ora were just a few of the other celebs who used the cream to prep their skin.
So what's so great about it, you ask?
The La Mer cream was originally developed by scientist Max Huber to renew and rejuvenate your complexion, specially formulated to be intensely rich and hydrating to alleviate the effects of ageing.
It uses the brands moisturising Miracle Broth and and antioxidant Lime Tea to instantly make skin appear softer and firmer, helping to smooth out wrinkles and line lines.
Unsurprisingly, the A-list loved cream does come with a luxury price tag, retailing from £70 for a 15ml jar, £125 for a 30ml jar to £1,700 for a huge 500ml jar.
The brand does provide a spatula with the cream so that you only use a small amount per application as the cream is very thick, meaning a jar does last quite a while.
Outside of the celebrity world, the cream in its own right has impressively garnered over 4,000 five-star reviews, with 98% of respondents would recommend the product to a friend.
"I'm in my mid 40s & my skin looks younger than my age" reads one five-star review.
While one loyal customer said "Now that I am nearly 80 years old I still use it although, as a pensioner, I have to budget carefully, nevertheless it will be the last thing I would do without!"
