Katy Perry reveals she’s stopped shaving her legs since becoming a mum

Katy Perry has revealed she stopped shaving her legs after becoming a mum.
The singer, who welcomed her daughter Daisy Dove with fiancé Orlando Bloom in August 2020, has decided leg shaving doesn't need to be part of her grooming routine right now.
And while she certainly doesn't need to justify why she's decided to let her leg hair grow, becoming a time-poor new mum is without doubt a good reason.
The American Idol judge, 36, made the body hair revelation during an episode of the talent show after listening to contestant Cassandra Coleman's performance.
"A couple things," Perry said. "Your voice is a spiritual experience. It is otherworldly angelic. And as a new mother, I don't have very much time, so I have quit shaving my legs. But when you sang, the hair on my legs grew an inch and a half. So, full-body chills."

To illustrate her point, and prove she really has ditched the razor, Perry then lifted her legs onto the judges’ table, and fellow judge Luke Bryan confirmed, “she literally has leg hair".
The Teenage Dream singer later shared a jokey animation of a pair of legs growing hair to Twitter with the caption: "An actual live look at my leg hair while I hear @casscoleman sing #AmericanIdol."
Other new mums can no doubt totally relate to Perry's grooming revelation, because after the endless rounds of feeding, changing and non-sleeping that often dominate the early days of new motherhood, it's understandable that they may not have the time, nor the inclination to tackle body hair.

This isn't the first time Perry has opened up about the back-to-work juggle. Back in September she shared a series of tweets describing what life was like now that she had made the transition into being a working parent.
“Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full-time job,” she tweeted. “Part 2: when a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off…’ she’s coming from a full-time job… of being a mom, lol.”

The Firework singer also recently opened up about how life has changed since welcoming her daughter last year.
Speaking to Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness during a virtual Meditate America event, the singer revealed she is struggling with the lack of shut eye.
“I’m a new mother. My daughter - she’s such a gift - but there is sometimes a challenge concerning sleep! No matter how much support you have,” she said.
“But where am I going to get those six hours that I used to get? Where did it go?”

Perry went on to credit transcendental meditation (TM), which is a form of silent mantra meditation, for helping her carve out some me-time during a busy day.
“There's been so many different ways TM has blessed me, but in this particular moment, as a new mother, I take 20 minutes,” she explained.
“Not only do I find the deepest rest that I need, that my body is desperate for — but it feels like I’ve stolen two plus hours, maybe three hours, from the clock.”
The new mum went on to praise the technique for helping to give her the “deepest rest” when she is “desperate for a reset”.
